Relics in Sri Lanka is a 4-night, 5-day round trip that takes you to most of the UNESCO heritage sites in Sri Lanka — including the ancient city of Anuradhapura (Sri Lanka’s first kingdom), the ancient city of Polonnaruwa (the second kingdom), the Lion Rock Fortress of Sigiriya built by King Kasyapa, the Temple of the Tooth Relic which houses the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha, and the Golden Temple of Dambulla with its well-preserved ancient mural paintings.
Our representative meets you at Bandaranaike International Airport with a warm welcome and escorts you to Anuradhapura. In the Ancient City of Anuradhapura, you will observe the monumental ruins of the palaces, gardens, Buddhist temples and monasteries of Sri Lanka’s first kingdom.
After breakfast, continue your excursion in Anuradhapura in the morning. In the afternoon, proceed to Sigiriya to visit the Lion Rock Fortress of Sigiriya. Climb to the summit of this UNESCO-listed rock citadel, with an optional visit to the neighbouring Pidurangala Rock.
Head to Polonnaruwa to visit the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa along with the magnificent Gal Vihara Complex. Observe the monumental ruins of the fabulous garden city created by King Parakramabahu. Optional jeep safari in Minneriya National Park to see herds of wild elephants.
After breakfast, visit the Golden Cave Temple of Dambulla with its ancient murals and Buddha statues. Continue to Kandy, where you will visit the revered Temple of the Tooth Relic, enjoy a cultural dance performance, and take in Kandy Lake and the Kandy viewpoint. The rest of the day is yours to relax.
